IN DEPTH: ANTHONY PULIS
I'm delighted to have joined the club after knowing of their interest in me for a while.
However the actual move has only come about over the last few weeks and I'm really looking forward to it.
It should be good - the lads are doing well and hopefully I can help the team finish in a decent position.
As I've said, I've known about Rovers' interest for a while - it's just been a matter of Stoke and Rovers agreeing a deal. It's never come about until now.
Things were going ok for me at Stoke for a while but it's ground to a halt and I haven't been playing enough football recently and the move has come at the right time for me - as soon as I found out about the interest I couldn't wait to get down here and sign.
I have played in the FA Cup for Stoke this season and went on in both games against Newcastle and have been on the bench quite a bit, but I'm 23 now and getting to the stage where I need to be playing a bit more regularly.
I know I'm not going to walk straight into the team here because the lads have been on a really good run but hopefully I can work hard and, if given the opportunity I can take it.
One of the things that Trolls and Lennie told me that there were a lot of games coming up so they will need cover in all positions and hopefully during that period I'll get a chance in the team and hopefully I can take it.
I'm a central midfielder, and while I have played the odd game at right-back I consider that central midfield is my best position.
I was on loan at Grimsby last season. It was supposed to be for three months and I did play nine or ten games before picking up an injury.
It was a good experience for me and good to be playing regular football, but unfortunately the injury kept me out of action for the second half of last season, which was disappointing.
We haven't discussed what might happen in the long term. I've signed for three months and I'm not looking any further than that. If things go well during that time then we'll see what happens after that.
I've spent a couple of days with the lads already. Thursday was a light session as there were games on Tuesday and Wednesday. We did a little bit more today, at Derby, on the way to Doncaster and the spirit in the camp appears to be very good.
I know one or two of them anyway, from my time with the Welsh Under 21 squad, so Byron Anthony, David Pipe and Joe Jacobson were players I already knew and that has helped me settle in. But they do seem a really good bunch of players here and the spirit is very good.
I would say that I'm more of a holding midfield player. I do like to get on the ball and pass the ball. I think I have a decent range of passing and I like to get stuck in. I could do withy scoring a few more goals but hopefully people will be able to see what I can do and hopefully I can add something to the team.
I was told when I signed that I wouldn't go straight into the team because the lads have been doing so well, so I know that I won't be starting against Doncaster. Unfortunately I won't be eligible for next week's game against Southampton because I'm cup tied so my first couple of weeks here will be a little bit strange.
However on the positive side, it will give me time to get to know the lads and for them to know me in training.
Hopefully the lads will do well against Southampton and get through to the next round, although it's difficult for me because while I want them to do well, if they go through and draw Manchester United then I'm not going to be able to play, which will be disappointing.
People will remember that my dad played for Rovers and to be honest when he was aware that there were a few clubs interested in taking me on loan he pushed me towards Rovers because he has an affection for the club. He said this is a decent club that will look after me.
I'm often asked if it's difficult being at a club where your father is manager and it isn't easy, I have to admit. It's alright for 90 per cent of the time, but the worst part about it is trying to get the supporters to understand that there is no favouritism involved.
If anything, it's exactly the opposite but I still have to convince people that I'm not at the club because I'm the manager's son. It's difficult but it's something I've had to live with and in a way being here will be a weight off my mind, because my Dad's not in charge here!
All I hope is that I can show people what I can do while I'm here.
