WILLIAMS AIMS TO KEEP HIS PLACE
Andy Williams is looking to make his first away start in Rovers colours this weekend.
The striker played a full 90 minutes against Nottingham Forest, and hopes to feature for as long at Kenilworth Road this coming Saturday.
The Pirates travel to the home of Luton Town looking to extend their unbeaten run to the season, and possibly make a push into the top six places.
"I had a few opportunities against Forest and was disappointed not to get on the scoresheet," Andy told bristolrovers.co.uk, "But it was a decent game and I think we pitted ourselves well against one of the best sides in the division.
"We're disappointed to have only taken a point, and I think at 2-0 up we were probably guilty of thinking the game was practically won. We switched off slightly and you can't do that against the better sides because you get punished.
"We still had the better of the second half and limited them to very little, but looking back it's a game that we should have taken all three points from.
"We've now got Luton and Leeds coming up and they are going to be big tests for us. But I think we're aware that we can match these sides, it's just a case of going out there and showing it on the day.
"Luton we're looking forward to, it's the next game, and it will be an earlier start so there's less waiting around on the day which hopefully will suit us."
Although Andy is hoping to keep his starting place, he's taking nothing for granted.
"I knew when I came here that I wouldn't get straight into the team," he said, "Rickie and Richard had been going well, and especially in pre-season they were on fire.
"I didn't expect to start straight away, but now I've had one I'm hoping to get a couple more. It was my first 90 minutes since last season so I was feeling it a bit after the match, but I'm ready for another one this weekend hopefully.
"I'm quite tall, but I know that I need to improve my heading and a few other areas of my game. There were some chances at the weekend I should have taken, and I think if I improve the areas of my game that aren't quite good enough I can be a real handful for defenders."
