HALDANE EXPLAINS BIZARRE BOOKING
Lewis Haldane was the victim of more poor refereeing on Saturday afternoon after receiving a pointless booking at Carlisle United.
The Rovers midfielder was cautioned for rejoining the action after being asked to change his cycling shorts due to a colour clash with his kit.
But Lewis has confirmed that after doing as requested he was told to go back on by the fourth official, something that the referee didn't seem to want to understand as he brandished a yellow card.
"I was wearing different coloured cycling shorts underneath my kit and the referee told me to go off and change them," Lewis told bristolrovers.co.uk.
"I took them off and the fourth official told me to go back on, so I ran on and then referee said he didn't tell me to go on. I told him the fourth official said I could go on but he said as it wasn't him giving permission and that he'd have to book me."
The game itself saw Lewis dropped down to the bench, with Joe Jacobson taking his place on the left side.
"I was disappointed not to start but changes were needed after losing to Leeds and I thought I did well after coming on," he said, "We had a few chances, and there was one towards the end I hit with the outside of my left foot that just bent away from goal right at the last minute.
"We were under a fair bit of pressure at the start of the second half, but we're still disappointed overall not to have got the win. Maybe it was a good point at a difficult place, but I think we know we could have done better and should have won.
"We've got two home games coming up now and hopefully we can win them both. If we do that then we'll be up in the top six, which is what we're all aiming for."
