Craig Disley says the point earned at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon is a welcome boost ahead of tomorrow night.

Rovers take on AFC Bournemouth in the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, looking to book their place in the area quarter-finals of the competition.

The Pirates have only won one home match all season, against Crystal Palace on penalties in the Carling Cup, and Craig says it's important to see that tally doubled tomorrow.

"Making it to the final last year gave us a fantastic day out, although none of us enjoyed losing," Craig told bristolrovers.co.uk.

"But there's another trip to Wembley at the end of it this year's competition, so we'll be taking it very seriously again.

"We've had a bye into the second Round so we are going to go out and give it our all and, who knows what might happen. Fingers crossed it will be another good year."

The scoreless draw at the Withdean Stadium kept the club's long unbeaten away record in tact, and it was a result Craig says Rovers deserved.

"It was a hard earned and, well deserved point," he said, "It wasn't the prettiest of games at times but, after our last couple of results at home, I think it was a spirited performance from everyone.

"A draw was a probably a fair result, and it's one we are all fairly pleased with.

"We said afterwards that maybe our final ball or our final pass in the final third of the pitch wasn't brilliant, but at the end of the day, it's a good point.

"We limited them to a handful of chances, and had a couple of decent ones ourselves which we might have scored on another day. It's a good point for us, and one we would probably have taken before the game.

"It's maybe in our nature to sit back and catch teams on the break, as we have pace throughout the team, and that tactic does work for us. It's a little bit harder to use those tactics at home, because you are expected to go out and win the game.

"It was nice to keep our unbeaten away record going, though. It's been a long time now since we lost on our travels, and it's a record we want to continue.

"We have a tough game against Hartlepool on Friday, but we showed last year we could go there and win. It's going to be another tough test for us, but one we are looking forward to. We really need a win at the moment."

The home side had the better chances to break the deadlock, but when they did find a way through the back four they came across an in-form Steve Phillips.

"Steve was magnificent and showed the form he was in all of last season," said Craig, "To be fair, he hasn't had much chance with any of the goals we've conceded this season.

"Saturday though he was called on to make some good saves and he pulled a couple of excellent ones out of the bag. That's what he's there for, and I'm not going to give him too much praise because he's got a big enough head anyway!"
