Paul Trollope says wholesale changes aren't the answer to Rovers' problems in League One.

The first team coach admits his team have lacked in key areas over recent weeks, but says the overall quality of the squad is good.

Rovers slipped further down the league table after Saturday's home draw with Yeovil Town, and Paul knows that something has to change quickly in order to stop the slide.

"Everyone knows we're lacking certain things in and around the box," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "Against Yeovil it was another decent performance, but it's about winning games and we've said this on numerous occasions now.

"We need to address it with hard work and maybe a new face or two, which will help liven things up. We're not kidding ourselves because this is a results business, and it's all very well playing well and producing good build-up play, but it's all about finishing chances off.

"At the start of pre-season we said it would be important that we raised our level in everything we do, and I think we've done that on the whole. But one area where we haven't raised our level is in taking chances. Especially the last two games, when we've not quite had the calmness, the ruthlessness or the technique in front of goal to put the ball away.

"The way we finished last season that is something of a surprise, but we do know that we're not a million miles away. We would be worried in the camp if we were getting outplayed every week and getting beaten, so we've got to keep believing and working with the players, and make sure we keep our heads up.

"The work ethic is there and the desire is there, and if we keep showing that then I'm sure we can turn the corner. We've had a disappointing two or three weeks, but we've been here before having had this kind of run, and it's important we keep believing."

Paul is currently actively looking to bring new players into the club, possibly as soon as next week.

"Our performance levels have been pretty consistent, although results over recent weeks haven't followed," he said, "That's a concern, and although we know we don't need to make wholesale changes, we do need to add a bit of quality here and there.

"I'm not sure whether it will be this week to be honest, but if not this week then hopefully next week. We just need to add a bit of quality here and there, because if you look at the other squads in this division then in general theirs are bigger than ours.

"We're happy with the players we've got here, but we believe that brining one or two new ones in can help take us to the next level, and the type of player that can do that is the type we're after."
