CONFIDENCE IS THE KEY FOR JOE
Joe Jacobson says Rovers' run of indifferent form seems like a confidence issue.
The former Cardiff City left-back believes the players at the club are more than capable of challenging in League One, but admits that recent dropped points have been largely self-inflicted.
The Pirates saw yet another late advantage overturned in the weekend defeat at Gillingham, and Joe says that kind of turnaround has to be prevented from happening.
"Last season if we got in at half-time at 0-0 or 1-0 up, we knew we weren't going to lose the game," Joe told bristolrovers.co.uk, "So maybe it's a confidence thing for us, and we need to try and get back to the belief we know we should have in ourselves.
"We need to keep pressing in games right to the end, and make sure we stay strong in games and stay ahead.
"Against Gillingham we were cruising at 2-1 up, and we had chances to make it 3-1 and that would have put the game beyond doubt. But we didn't take them and then they punished us from a couple of lucky breaks.
"I don't think there is any one person making mistakes, but it's a team thing and we need to see how we can improve all over the pitch to try and stop it happening.
"We've got a difficult game coming up on Saturday against Bournemouth, and if we were to lose that then they would be catching us up. If we get a result then things will be looking a lot better, and we'll probably go up to around halfway.
"There should be a good crowd there, and hopefully we can get the right result. We need to be positive from the start, and if we do take the lead in the game, we need to make sure we hang on to it."
