FA PANEL REJECT WALKER APPEAL
The Football Association's disciplinary panel have this afternoon rejected Rovers' appeal over Richard Walker's weekend red card.
The striker was dismissed by referee Rob Styles after being hauled to the ground and held down by an opposition player.
Bizarrely, the sending off was officially recorded as 'violent conduct'.
Rovers had appealed the decision after video evidence clearly showed Walker had done nothing wrong, but the panel opted to side with the match official.
Last season's top scorer will therefore be banned for three matches starting immediately.
It means he won't be able to feature in tonight's FA Cup round one replay against Leyton Orient, or next week's home league game against Cheltenham Town.
His other match of enforced absence will depend on this evening's outcome, with a win meaning he'll miss a Saturday cup tie against Rushden & Diamonds, while a defeat will see him out of the meeting with Swansea City a week on Saturday.
