Paul Trollope said "basic errors" led to Rovers' 3-2 home defeat against Huddersfield Town this evening.

The first team coach pointed the finger at defensive lapses at key moments as the major reason for his side's loss, and said they'd need to be cut out if the recent poor run of form was going to be halted.

"Basic errors that haven't been prevalent over the last couple of years cost us dearly today," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "We shot ourselves in the foot, and that was incredibly disappointing to see.

"Today was an important game and we don't want to be looking over our shoulders in a couple of games' time, but if we commit basic errors like we did today then we will be."

Josh Klein-Davies was given his first start for Rovers today, and he marked the occasion with a first half goal.

"Josh had a good debut for us, he scored a good goal and had a hand in the other one," said Paul, "He was lively going forward and he gave us that spark we were looking for.

"He was a threat for us and I thought we were lively in attack at times with him up there, but unfortunately we weren't right at the other end today. We can't seem to marry it all in together at the moment, and the level of concentration from throws and set-pieces we saw today wasn't acceptable."

Rovers travel to Swansea City on Monday looking to put today's defeat firmly behind them.

"We've had a tough couple of weeks," said Paul, "But we've had spells like this in the past and we've come through them.

"It's how you react to runs and results like this and whether you let it get on top of you and worry about it, or whether you work hard and get through it and come out better the other side."
