ELLIOTT PLEASED TO BE PLAYING AGAIN
Steve Elliott is hoping to finish off the 2007/08 season with a run of games in the Rovers first team.
The defender made a return to action in yesterday's 2-2 draw against Swansea City following two months on the sidelines with injury, and hopes to keep his place for the weekend trip to Yeovil Town.
"It was just good to be back to be honest," Steve told bristolrovers.co.uk, "It's been ten weeks in all, and for the last five I've just had to bide my time and try to get match fit again.
"It's been difficult without too many reserve games, but I've been training hard and I did manage one game and I think that helped. Yesterday was certainly a testing game to come back into, and they kept us on our toes right to the very last minute so fitness-wise it was a good exercise."
Yesterday's Liberty Stadium clash saw Rovers surrender a 2-0 half-time lead after a second half onslaught from the Welsh side.
"It was a bit disappointing to not win, but in the grand scheme of things a point at their place isn't a bad result at all," said Steve, "They're probably the best team we've played in the league, and that's why they're top.
"In the first half our game plan worked well, we caught them on the break a couple of times and defended well when we needed to. The second half was totally different and in the end we had to battle hard just to dig out a draw.
"Unfortunately we couldn't quite hold on for the win, and it took a shot into the top corner to earn them a draw. But we have to be pleased with a point, and hopefully the result can kick us on to a few more wins before the end of the season.
"We don't want to be dragged any further down, and a few wins will allow us to look up the table as we start building for next season."
