TROLLS SET FOR COMPETITIVE DERBY
Paul Trollope is looking forward to what he says will be a hotly contested game at the Memorial Stadium this evening.
The first team coach recalls the first meeting between Rovers and Swindon Town this season, which the Robins edged after a controversial afternoon at the County Ground.
That game was ruined by poor referee Rob Styles, but Paul says he isn't expecting another substandard display of officiating tonight.
"Both teams are safe in the division having been promoted last season, and it's a local derby which we're all looking forward to," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "It's going to be hotly contested as a game, and I am sure the crowd will be in full voice.
"We want to finish the season as high as we can, and a win tonight would help us achieve that.
"The first game earlier in the season was turned into a farce, but that was because of Mr Styles rather than the players on the pitch. It was a good game of football played in the right way, both sides played well, and it was ruined by the referee.
"Obviously Swindon have moved on from then, as have we, and I am sure there will be no repeats of what we saw that day. There's no ill feeling from our side and I am sure not from theirs, as anyone who saw the game knows it was played in good spirits.
"Swindon had a good result at the weekend, and they are capable of scoring goals. But it's up to us to be bold and to try and get the three points to finish above them in the table.
"It's very tight amongst all the teams from the area at the moment, and it would be nice to finish above the likes of Swindon, Yeovil and Cheltenham. If we do that and end up a bit higher than where we are now, I think that would be a fair reflection on our season."
