TROLLS LEFT FEELING DISAPPOINTED
Paul Trollope admits the home season ended in a disappointing manner this afternoon.
The first team coach watched his players go down by two goals to nil against Brighton & Hove Albion, to leave the Memorial Stadium behind in somewhat subdued circumstances.
The results means the Pirates have collected just one point from a possible nine since last weekend, and it's something Paul knows isn't good enough.
"We're disappointed not to have got more points from our last few home games," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "We wanted to do more than we have done over the last week, and again we're concerned about the quality we lack in certain areas.
"Other teams seem to have that on us, and it's something we'll be looking at in the summer because we feel we should be higher in the league than we are.
"We probably slightly shaded the first half today, and then in the second half it was ironic that just as we got a head of steam up and looked like scoring, we conceded a goal. We then had to chase the game, and another piece of poor defending led to their second goal.
"We can't afford to be like this next season, there are going to be personnel changes and we need to shape the squad to improve us. We know which way we need to go, there will be new faces, and we're already working on that.
"There have been too many games when we've said we deserved this or deserved that, but you are what your points total says you are. That's why we are where we are in the league.
"It's our first year back, we're still in the division, and next year we'll be looking to progress further. With the cup run we had the season as a whole has been ok, but there has to be an improvement next year."
