YOUTH CUP FINALS COMING TO THE MEM
Rovers will be playing host to a festival of youth football next weekend.
The Midland Junior Premier Football League Cup Finals are coming to Bristol for the first time and will be played at the Memorial Stadium on May 10 and 11.
The league was formed in 2004 and currently provides some of the highest standard of youth football from the South West to the Midlands.
There are more than 70 sides playing the highest standard of football outside of academy and centre of excellences.
The league's reputation is growing each season and the number of applications for next season is expected to double. The league runs age groups from under 12 to under 18.
The club's chief scout Paul Molesworth said: "We are really looking forward to hosting these finals at the Memorial Stadium.
"We hope to form a long term link between this league and our centre of excellence, and would like to make this a yearly arrangement. It is great for the young people to get the chance to play at a football league ground, and this is all part of Bristol Rovers' commitment to youth football."
Clubs represented in the MJPFL from the South West include Almondsbury Town, Yate Town, Gloucester City, Stroud and Mangotsfield United.
All the clubs in the league are semi-professional, offering players an opportunity to progress into the senior levels of the clubs.
