WHADDON ROAD PLANNING BEGINS
Rovers will this week begin some of the logistical work behind preparing for life at Whaddon Road.
Club officials will visit Cheltenham Town on Wednesday as plans for housing Gasheads at the ground for the start of the 2008/09 campaign are put into place.
Season ticket and matchday prices for the coming year have already been confirmed, and over the next few days staff will begin assigning specific areas of the stadium for specific uses on matchdays.
Following the midweek site visit season tickets are expected to go on sale to online fans towards the end of the week, and to supporters without web access shortly after.
Meanwhile, director Geoff Dunford has confirmed that Rovers will be paying Cheltenham £500 a game more than was agreed after previous talks in 2007.
But the increased costs will be offset by various additional services provided to Rovers, and Geoff says the club can be pleased with their arrangement.
"We are happy with the deal we have struck with Cheltenham chairman Paul Baker," Geoff told bristolrovers.co.uk, "We are paying £500 per game more than our initial agreement of 12 months ago, but this deal now includes all pitch maintenance costs for pre-season and the season proper.
"The deal also includes the cleaning of the stadium after our games, and we have also reached agreement of a profit share of dry and wet sales at Whaddon Road, which we did not agree in our previous discussions.
"We now know that Whaddon Road is our fans' preferred venue, which was not obvious when we first made a tentative agreement with Cheltenham."
Rovers will leave the Memorial Stadium at some point in the summer, and Geoff says a more specific date will be known later this month.
He said: "We hope that a firm decision on the timing of our relocation can be made quickly, after we receive the tenders for the redevelopment of the Memorial Stadium later this month."
