Rickie Lambert says that 2008/09 can bring him even more goals, after a season of acclimatising to League One.

The striker was on target 19 times over the course of the current campaign, finishing as the club's top scorer.

But Rickie hopes to score even more goals next season, and says the team's first year back in League One will have been a worthwhile 12-month experience.

"I think I can do better next season," Rickie told bristolrovers.co.uk, "It's been my first experience of playing up front in this division, and now having done that I'll go into next year knowing what it's all about and what to expect.

"I would have liked to have reached 20 for the season, and looking back there were a few chances I missed that I feel I should have scored."

Paul Trollope has already made it clear that Rickie will be an important part of his team next season, although who he plays alongside remains to be seen.

"I think Trolls has got his eye on bringing someone in, but whether he does or doesn't, my aim is just to keep trying my best and working hard and trying to start matches week-in week-out," he said.

Although Rovers haven't set the division alight this season, Rickie says that 2007/08 as a whole can be remembered fondly.

"I think it's a year that will remember for the FA Cup run we had mainly," he said, "The first half of the season we did brilliantly, but the run in the FA Cup took a lot out of us and I think led to our downfall in the league.

"But we've had this season in the division, we've stayed in it, so next season the aim has to be to push ourselves on a lot higher and to be making a real challenge in the top half."
