LINES LOOKING FORWARD TO 2008/09
Chris Lines is looking forward to enjoying some summer rest before returning for a season of success next year.
The midfielder admits the 2007/08 league campaign was largely disappointing, and hopes for more joy come 2008/09.
"We started the season like we finished last season, we couldn't seem to miss chances, and that's what we need to get back to," Chris told bristolrovers.co.uk.
"Nobody expected us to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, and overall it's been a massive season for the club. To get to the last eight for the first time in 50 years was a good achievement, but we all saw our league form plummeted as a result.
"We probably would have taken the season we've had at the start, but we need to improve for next year and challenge more.
"There will be new players coming in over the summer, and there will be more competition for places. But the people already here will want to fight for their places, and everyone here wants to push on.
"I think we're better than some of the teams that have finished above us, and I see no reason why we can't be a lot higher next season.
"For now though, even though I'm young, my legs are feeling it and I'm looking forward to the summer. It will be good to have a few weeks off and not think about football, and then come back in July fresh and ready to go again."
