TROLLS REFLECTS AFTER FOUR EXIT
Paul Trollope has spoken of the respect he has for Chris Carruthers and Sammy Igoe, after telling them they can leave the club in the summer.
The first team coach will not be offering the duo new deals, along with youngsters Ryan Paddock and Tom Godsell who have also been shown the exit door.
Paul believes both Carruthers and Igoe have enough quality to find a league club elsewhere for next season, and he's wished them all the best for 2008/09 and beyond.
"Chris played a big part in what we achieved last season, but he's been frustrated recently with a lack of first team chances," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "I played with Chris at Northampton Town, and his involvement at Bristol Rovers has been terrific.
"I've thanked Chris for all his efforts, and we wish him all the best for the future. I'm sure he'll find another league club and do well there.
"Sammy originally came to us on loan at the end of a season, and then joined us on trial at the start of the next. He wasn't event getting paid at that time, which shows the type of lad he is.
"He played a huge part in the success we had last season through the play-offs and then at Wembley, and that goal he scored at the end of the final will be remember for a decade or more.
"He is another player who made a huge contribution for us, and wherever he goes we wish him well.
"It's never easy letting people go, and it's not a nice part of the job. The first year I had the job I had to do it with the likes of Christian Edwards, John Anderson and Jamie Forrester, people I'd been playing alongside, so that was a baptism of fire.
"I've been in the job for almost three years now, and although it's still not the nicest thing to have to do, it's difficult in a different way."
