Paul Trollope has confirmed that Rovers have started to receive phone calls of interest for Richard Walker.

The striker has one year left on his contract with the Pirates, but has been placed on the transfer list and told he can leave the club.

Walker turned down a number of loan moves towards the end of the season just gone, but Paul says the forward's Rovers future is definitely over.

"Richard has a year left on his contract but is available for transfer," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "We've had a few phone calls about him, as you would expect for an experienced striker at this level and especially at League Two level.

"What materialises on that front only time will tell, but it's in both parties' best interests if Richard moves on.

"He has given fantastic service to the club during his time here, and if he is still here at the start of next season then we will treat him with the respect he deserves.

"But I think he realises it's time to move on - we're trying to shape the future and a side that can challenge at the top end of League One and then the Championship.

"Unfortunately for Richard, he is not going to be a part of that."
