First team coach Paul Trollope is expecting some of his squad to play a full ninety minutes in Saturday's friendly match against Torquay United at Plainmoor.

Speaking to bristolrovers.co.uk Paul said: "I think we will probably take fewer players than we did to Weymouth. Some players will probably get an hour, or 70 minutes, and some will get a full game. We are just looking to progress things really, as we have a lot of games coming up in a short space of time with three games to play in Sweden and Denmark in five days next week.

"It's an intense period and while the lads are going to get their fitness from the running and the little top ups in tactical and technical work, the main thing is the games and making sure we progress the way we want to in those.

The game against Torquay (kick off 3.00pm) will provide the squad with another good test.

"They were unlucky not to regain their place in the Football League last season, and at one time it seemed as though they were set for an amazing season. They are a club close to my heart but, unfortunately, they fell short at the last hurdle.

"They will have been disappointed with the way their season finished, but they have strengthened where they needed to. I know their manager, Paul Buckle, very well. He's a good lad and a decent coach. Torquay will be strong this year and I think they will be there, or thereabouts, in their league this season.

"It's a step up, in terms of opposition, from Weymouth and one that will create a big test for us. However it's a game where we will be looking to put in a performance that will enable us to get a win, and also improve the players' fitness.

Some of the younger players in the squad will not be selected again on Saturday and will have to wait until the squad returns from Sweden before having the opportunity to impress the management team.

"There are a lot of younger players in the squad, who have trained very hard, and it's a difficult time for them.

"They will get some action when we come back from Sweden, and they will need to shine in those games.

"We will make sure they have enough training under their belts before then but, obviously, the need to get them fit and ready for games is not as urgent as for the first team squad. We play Yate, Llanelli and Salisbury when we come back, and we'll see those people in action in those games.

Although the final list of players who will be travelling to Sweden has not been announced, several players have edged their way in contention.

"In many ways people have selected themselves over the last few weeks, especially some of the younger players. Some have stepped up to the plate, whilst some have fallen behind and that's to be expected.

"Those who deserve it will travel, and the only issue we have outstanding is regarding Josh Klein-Davies, who is due to travel to Ireland with the Welsh U-19 side at the end of next week.

"At the moment, we are looking at the possibility of him coming out to Sweden with us and flying back to link up with the Welsh squad after our second friendly of the tour, next Thursday. If that's at all possible, we are going to do that.

Other than David Pipe, who is suffering from a broken nose, there were no injuries to report after the Weymouth game.

"There were the usual bumps and bruises and James Fraser took a knock on his knee after an impressive display, but we are hoping he will shake it off and be available for the weekend.

As far as Ryan Green is concerned, he took part in a full training session today, and assuming he gets through the next few days, he will join the party travelling to Sweden.

There was also further news on Wayne Andrews.

"Wayne is going for another scan on his knee and will now spend two weeks at Lilleshall. Once he has completed those two weeks, it will be clearer as to which way we will be going in terms of his future."
