Aaron was one of five new players to join the club on transfer deadline day 2004, arriving on loan from Stockport County.
At the end of the 2003/04 season, he returned to Edgeley Park as he still had one year to run on his contract. However, they indicated they were willing to release him and once a settlement had been reached between the player and the club, he returned to the Memorial Stadium in August, on a six month deal, which was later extended until the end of the season.
In all, he made 26 league appearances for the club in 2004/05,and signed another one year deal in the summer of 2005. He became a regular in the side, at right back, under PaulTrollope and Lennie Lawrence. His final tally of 37 league games was his best ever in a Rovers shirt and his form towards the end of the season was good enough for him to be offered a further one year deal.
He was a valuable member of the squad again in 2006/07 and his performances were rewarded with a new two year contract in the summer of 2007. Aaron played in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final at the Millennium Stadium and was on the bench for the play off final at Wembley.
Last season he enjoyed what was, arguably, his best season for the club and appeared in 34 league games. He was runner up in the Supporters Club Player of the Year Awards.
Until he was moved to the right back position Aaron was regarded, primarily, as a right sided midfield player. He can also play at left back, and his ability to play in more than one position should prove to be an advantage as the club begins life in League One, where his pace and the fact that he is strong in the tackle will undoubtedly stand him in good stead.
Aaron began his career with Aston Villa, but on turning professional, he found it difficult to make the breakthrough into the first team. He did make one substitute appearance for Villa and there were five appearances for Lincoln City during a loan spell at Sincil Bank in the 1999/2000 season.
He signed for Sheffield Wednesday for a fee of £100,000 in October 2000 and made 37 league appearances during his time at Hillsborough. In November 2001, Stockport County paid a fee of £75,000 to take him to Edgeley Park and he quickly established himself as a member of their first team squad.
